Our Projects
Integrated Systems for Sustainable Living in Northern Uganda
At Koro Farmstay, our projects are intentionally interconnected. Each initiative strengthens the others — creating a resilient, self-sustaining system rooted in land, knowledge, and community.
This is not a collection of separate ideas.
It is one integrated vision.
1. Sustainable & Organic Farming Project
Regenerating Soil. Growing Resilience.
This project forms the foundation of Koro Farmstay.
We demonstrate practical, regenerative farming methods that reduce dependence on chemical inputs and external control. Our approach prioritizes long-term soil health, biodiversity, and climate resilience.
Core Activities:
Improving soil fertility using natural and organic methods
Crop diversification and mixed cropping systems
Integrated farming (trees, crops, and complementary systems)
Seasonal planning and climate adaptation strategies
Orchard establishment and long-term tree planting
The farm will serve as a living learning site for farmers, visitors, diasporans, and students who want hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture.
This is applied knowledge — not theory.
2. Traditional Seed Bank Project
Preserving Indigenous Knowledge & Seed Sovereignty
The Seed Bank is central to our mission.
True agricultural independence begins with seed sovereignty. By preserving indigenous and resilient seed varieties, we protect biodiversity and empower farmers.
Key Focus Areas:
Collecting indigenous and traditional seed varieties
Preserving and multiplying climate-resilient seeds
Training farmers in seed saving and proper storage
Redistributing seeds through exchange and community networks
This project restores farmer independence, strengthens local food systems, and protects agricultural heritage for future generations.
3. Farm Development Phases
Building Step-by-Step with Transparency
Land Foundation
Mapping and planning the farm layout
Clearing and preparing the land
Installing fencing and appropriate security systems
Landscape design and zoning
Planting fruit trees and essential crops
Excavating natural fish pond
Natural Infrastructure
During the dry season:
Producing adobe bricks and ICEBs blocks
Constructing natural buildings using local materials
Developing initial farmstay accommodation
Every step of this process will be documented openly.
We will transparently share:
Development costs
Challenges encountered
Adjustments made
Lessons learned
This is real development in real time.
